PlanningI am in Key West right now and I am working on a little of my pre-planning from here! The sun is warm, the salt air is amazing, and I am really finding time to pray and get quiet with God, even though I am busy at work during the day and am enjoying time with my mom and our friends at night! This is one of the greatest benefits of entrepreneurship!

I originally scheduled my “real” pre-planning day for Friday, November 20th, the Friday before Thanksgiving. My pre-planning day incorporates a structured, prayerful review of my mission statement, life verse, and life goals (or intentions).  After spending a few hours on this, I complete my inventory, write a letter to the passing year, and complete a vision board for the coming year. I am enjoying doing a little of this in the salt air with the sun on my skin.

Being able to work from anywhere was one of the appealing things about having my own VA practice. For many months, I didn’t take advantage of my freedom to work wherever. In 2014 I set the intention to say yes to travel more often and have done so. I am increasing that intention for 2015, so it will be interesting to see where I get to over the course of the year.

This trip is a working trip to celebrate the closing of my mom’s retail business, her birthday, the birthday of a wonderful friend who used to work with us at the store, and my birthday, which is next month.

It’s a fitting and safe time to complete my inventory and contemplate 2014. I will most likely also write my letter to the year on the trip…saying goodbye to the old and preparing to welcome in the new…seeking a straight path for the year.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV

Do you get away a little when you plan your year? I would really enjoy hearing about your plans.
