Finding Balance as a Female SolopreneurI am working hard on balance. A challenge to say the least. I am actually using 2 coaching processes right now, diligently, to build it into my day-to-day life. I seem to let myself be the first thing to slide.

It appears that despite the increased number of female entrepreneurs, especially in the last 10 years, that the experiences and challenges faced by us have not evolved.

Here are the common suggestions I have found to help us all with this conundrum:

  1. Get picky
  2. Be yourself
  3. Remain open
  4. Accept imperfection
  5. One day at a time
  6. Get passionate
  7. Track it
  8. Find your own path
  9. Be supported
  10. Find your fun
  11. Tackle your tech

If we are picky about the things we say yes to, and learn to say no to the non-essential, it’s easier to find the time to be more balanced. Defining the relationships that are most important to us, helps fuel our fires to work things in.

We need to learn what drives us individually, our values, our passions, and be ourselves with our time. Just because someone else is training for a marathon and finds balance in that, doesn’t mean we have to if it is not “us”.

Remaining open to options, keeps us flexible and ready for what comes. Especially if things change, and they always do… keeping ourselves open allows us to adjust to change when it inevitably arrives.

No one is perfect. (Personally, no matter how I might try, I know I will never be.) Accepting this – embracing it, even – keeps us ready and able to accept the mistakes we make with grace.

One day at a time. Need I say more? We can only do what we are able to do today, and begin again tomorrow.

We need to discover our passions. Do we love to color? Read? Draw? Sail? Sing? When we seek those out first, then focus on our passions and be amazed at how we find the time to do what feeds our souls.

We need to plot the time for our self-care – our balance – on our calendar. Making the time and tracking our effectiveness holds us accountable to ourselves. We can see where we need to adjust to remain in balance as things arise.

We need to each find our own way. My way may not work for you. Your way likely won’t work for me. We each need to run the race we are in.

Finding our own support system is vital. We can be coached, led, instructed, assisted, but support is vital to our success. We must allow ourselves to be supported.

Along with seeking out our passions, let’s be sure we are having fun! Personally, I am working on incorporating fun into every day, especially when I am stressed, to keep my head clear. How can we all build fun into the equation?

Finally, when we use our tech to our advantage, we can engage more fully. I do this by using a meditation app on my iphone, tracking my walks with the app on my Apple watch, and using daily journal and coaching apps for accountability.

As you work on your balance, what have you incorporated to find success?
