As we delay the start of our workweek to celebrate Memorial Day, I want to express my gratitude for the men and women who sacrifice so much to keep us free.
I come from a long line of military. I never served myself, but my brother, father, grandfathers and great-grandfathers have all served our country.
The image to the right is my maternal great-grandfather during WWI.
As an auntie of two nieces whose father is active duty, I see the impact having a parent deployed has on children. We all worry, but the things those kids miss out on with their father can be tough to watch… and he’s still around. My heart aches for the families of those men and women who haven’t been so lucky.
Thank you to the men and women who selflessly serve our country. Thank you to the men, women, and families who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
